Hoeboer’s work treads the line between functional tableware and sculptural object. A utensil you can hold in your hands during small daily rituals, or an artpiece to place on your mantelpiece and view with pleasure from a distance. The soft curvy shapes are reminiscent both of the plasticity of the clay, and the rythmic movement of turning. Although traditionally made, her work has a fresh modern look. Everything is turned on a potter’s wheel, a craft process which involves years of practise and whereby the maker’s skill evolves simultaneously with that of form and design. This never-ending and very personal process is reflected in the uniqueness of Hoeboer’s work.
